Mr. Anwarul Karim, Additional Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh, joined the Department of Youth Development on 12 August 2014. He is a member of Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) 1982 regular batch and served in a number of positions in different capacities. Prior to his present assignment, he held the following positions:-
- Chairman, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation;
- Joint Secretary in the Ministries of Home Affairs, Commerce and Establishment;
- Member (Joint Secretary), Bangladesh Administrative Appellate Tribunal;
- Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate, UNO, ADC, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate (Narayanganj and Rangpur);
Mr. Anwarul Karim, graduated with Honors in Public Administration from the University of Dhaka in 1980 and did his MSS from the same university in 1981. He completed M Phil Program in Public Administration and Organization Theory from the University of Bergen, Norway in 2000 under NORAD Fellowship with distinction marks in the thesis. He also participated in CSRT (Comprehensive Security Response to Terrorism) Course during August-September 2006 at the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS), in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
He is a widely traveled man and has traveled to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, India, Pakistan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Dubai, Egypt, UK and USA on various training, seminar,workshop and study tour purposes.
Mr. Anwarul Karim was born in a respectable Muslim Family on December 31, 1958 at Mizan Road No-2, Feni. He is married and blessed with three children.
